BiographyA dynamic young harpist, Jacqueline Pollauf has been praised for playing with "glittering beauty" (Lawrence Budman, critic for the Miami Herald) and "a steady and most satisfying elegance" (The Toledo Blade). Showing musical promise from a young age, Jacqueline made her solo debut at age sixteen with the Perrysburg Symphony Orchestra. She has since appeared as the featured soloist with orchestras which include the Toledo Symphony Orchestra, the Newark Symphony Orchestra and the Firelands Symphony Orchestra. The winner of many awards and honors, Jacqueline enjoys an active and varied musical career, including frequent performances as a soloist, chamber, and ensemble musician. Jacqueline's debut solo album, Bouquet, will be released in 2008. She is also featured on the Philadelphia Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra's critically acclaimed Naxos recording - Howard Hanson: Organ Concerto. The principal harpist with the Philadelphia Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, Jacqueline has also performed with such prestigious ensembles as the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Baltimore Opera Company, the Baltimore Choral Arts Society, and Opera Vivente. Currently, Jacqueline is on the faculties of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, the Baltimore School for the Arts, and the Maryland Conservatory of Music. She also maintains a private harp and piano studio. Jacqueline holds degrees from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University - a Master of Music in harp performance and pedagogy and Bachelor of Music in harp performance. Principal teachers include Ruth K. Inglefield, Kathleen Bride and Julie Kemp Buzzelli. |
