Workshop: Glissandos and Harmonics

Jacqueline presents an online workshop on playing glissandos and harmonics, two highly specific harp effects. Students of any level playing either a lever or a pedal harp are welcome to join Jacqueline via Zoom to build and refine these skills.

Throughout the 90 minute class, Jacqueline will present each skill at its most basic level and then demonstrate increasingly difficult exercises. Registrants will receive a PDF set of exercises, and can either refer to this, or simply follow Jacqueline's demonstrations and explanations. All students can identify the level appropriate for them and focus in on this level.

Presentation:

Grandjany's Music as Learning Repertoire

Jacqueline gives an online presentation for students and teachers about the music of Marcel Grandjany in learning the harp. While Grandjany (1891-1975) was himself a virtuoso harpist, he devoted much of his time to teaching and composing music at a variety of levels for students.

Throughout this 90 minute class, Jacqueline will present many works by Grandjany, starting with his beginning pieces and moving through music of increasing complexity. In addition to demonstrating passages of each piece, Jacqueline will discuss the skills and techniques each work covers and common challenges encountered in learning it. Attendees do not need a harp for this class, as there will be no student playing.

Workshop: Special Effects and Extended Techniques

Jacqueline presents an online workshop on playing special effects and extended techniques. Students of any level playing either a lever or a pedal harp are welcome to join Jacqueline via Zoom to learn to play many unusual and non-standard effects.

Throughout the 90 minute class, Jacqueline will present a wide range of extended techniques, including pedal and lever slides, gongs, whistles, weaving paper in the strings of the harp, and many more. Jacqueline will demonstrate and explain each technique and registrants can follow along at home on their harp.
