Workshop for the Puerto Rico Harp Chapter

I am looking forward to giving a workshop about Rhythm on the Harp for the Puerto Rico Harp Chapter. The workshop will take place via Zoom and is open to harpists of any level, playing either a lever or a pedal harp.

Recording Session

Marica McHugh and I really enjoyed recording Astor Piazzolla's Histoire du Tango as part of my Maryland State Arts Council Creativity Grant project. The recorded is currently being edited, with a video coming soon.

Baltimore Harp Camp

We had a great time at the Baltimore Harp Camp this summer. Students worked on ensemble music, music theory, and harp history projects. The week ended in a recital with all of the campers performing both solo pieces and as an ensemble.

Maryland State Arts Council Grant

The Maryland State Arts Council has awarded me a Creativity Grant for a project to create, edit, and share videos. I'll be creating videos of Pour le Tombeau d'Orphée by Marius Flothuis for solo harp, Histoire du Tango by Astor Piazzolla with flutist Marcia McHugh, and Six Studies in English Folk Song by Ralph Vaughan Williams with cellist Dariusz Skoraczewski. Additionally, I will be putting together a couple of instructional videos. Once complete, all of the videos will be posted to my YouTube channel.

I also received a Creativity Grant a year ago, for a similar project. I'm so grateful to the Maryland State Arts Council for their support!

Performance for American Harp Society

I'll be giving a lecture recital at The American Harp Society's Summer Institute, taking place June 1 - 4 at the Colburn School in Los Angeles, California. I'll perform solo harp pieces by three woman composers: Grace Becker Vamos' Fontainebleau Suite, and my own transcriptions of works by Betty Jackson King, and Lili Boulanger. More information is available here

May Performances

I'm looking forward to the last performance of the Spring Season of my Online Concert Series on May 19 at noon (EDT) in a program of Lamentations. As usual the concert will last around thirty minutes and I'll offer some thoughts throughout. Baltimore Harp Camp

The Baltimore Harp Camp will be running this summer from July 24 - July 28, 2023. This week long day camp welcomes harp students from ages 8 - 18 to spend their days playing in an ensemble, learning some music history, playing duets and trios, and studying music theory. The week culminates in a performance by all of the students. More information is available here.​

March Performances

During March, I will perform online on March 17 at noon (EDT) in a program of Harp Showpieces. Throughout the thirty-minute performance, I'll share a few thoughts about the music. Then, on Saturday, March 25 at 3pm, I'll perform at the Light Street Library Branch (1251 Light Street) in the Federal Hill neighborhood of Baltimore. Throughout this informal performance, I'll perform solo works for the harp with a focus on women composers, including Florence Price, Grace Becker Vamos, and Betty Jackson King. The performance is free and open to the public.

Spring 2023 Season Announced

I am happy to announce my Spring 2023 concert season. I'll continue to give online performances on the third Friday of each month through my YouTube channel. These will be short thematic recitals during which I'll offer some thoughts about the music and composers. Additionally, I'll give a variety of live and in-person performances, including several solo recitals in the Baltimore area and a lecture-recital at the American Harp Society Summer Institute in Los Angeles, California.

I'll be performing on November 11th at noon (EST) on the Friday Noon Concert Series at the Arts Club of Washington (2022 I Street NW, Washington D.C.). I'm looking forward to this short recital, where I'll perform works by Alphonse Hasselmans, John Thomas, and William Alwyn.

Article Published in American String Teacher

I just published an article in the American String Teacher journal called Composing Added Harp Parts for a Student Ensemble. It's aimed at how to compose a harp part to include young students in ensembles and help them build crucial ensemble experience. I'm so pleased to have this published and available as a resource.

Exercise Book Featured on Podcast

My exercise book, Pedal Exercises for Harp was recently featured on the Harp Column Music Podcast on an episode about Back to School Skill Builders. Host Dr. Kristina Finch discussed several different exercise books, including works by Maeve Gilchrist and Eira Lynn Jones. Finch called my book an “absolute gem. Review of Performance of French Harp Music

Throughout September, I really enjoyed performing for live audiences, including a solo recital at the Community College of Baltimore County on September 23rd. A reviewer from The Avenue News had this to say about my program of French harp music, "The audience was captivated. As Pollauf’s hands caressed the strings of her harp with vigor and grace… echoes of applause filled the hall.”  Thanks to all who attended!
